Do you remember your first Mardi Gras experience?
"When I was 18, I paid $10 for a milk crate to stand on and watched the parade. When I saw the bear float, I thought, 'I’m there!' And the rest is history!"
What is your favourite Mardi Gras memory?
"My first-ever DJ set at the after-party in 2022 stands out. It was fabulous! Mardi Gras introduced afresh sound to the after-party, and I was thrilled to contribute a new vibe to the LGBTQIA+ community."
What does Free to Be mean to you?
"As a gay man from a first-generation migrant family, the celebration of Free to Be resonates deeply with me. There was a time when I didn’t feel free, dating girls even though that wasn’t who I am. It wasn’t until later that I embraced my identity and found a community where I felt comfortable. Being free is essential, as it helps educate the youth of tomorrow."
What does Mardi Gras mean to you?
"It’s a celebration of an oppressed community. We are a marginalised group, and having the space and time to be free is a beautiful way to give back and celebrate who we are."
