Do you remember your first Mardi Gras experience?
"My first ever Mardi Gras was in 2016 when a fabulous girl named Victoria Anthony invited me to march with her float, The Dreamers (don’t quote me on that!). My feet were nearly bleeding afterwards, but the exhilaration and adrenaline rush were like nothing I’d ever experienced before. That feeling is unforgettable!"
What is your favourite Mardi Gras memory?
"My favourite would be the 2019 Parade. I was marching with Trans Pride, and we were sponsored by Mardi Gras, so the float was decked out. This time, I wasn’t marching; I was on the truck dancing, and oooooh, that was fun! I still get chills thinking about it!"
What event are you looking forward to in 2025?
"The after-party. I love that there’s less pressure to be decked out; it’s all about showing up in the right spirit and having a good time."
What does Free to be mean to you?
"Freedom means fully owning your agency and autonomy. When I think about Trans rights and how far we still have to go, it’s a reminder of why the T is at the end of LGBTQ. Until the trans and non-binary communities achieve equality and freedom to just be, we have a long way to go. Freedom means freedom for EVERYONE."
