Skye Paez is a flight attendant for Qantas International and a passionate LGBTQIA+ ambassador, proudly waving the Trans flag and encouraging the community to join Qantas in exploring the world.With a modern-day Audrey Hepburn vibe, Skye dazzles in this shoot alongside the fabulous Miss Kalypso. This marks their fifth collaboration, following an iconic photo from a night at The Beresford that featured in an ad campaign.

Do you remember your first Mardi Gras experience?

"My first Mardi Gras was wild! I was in the parade with my best friend Victoria, diving right into the deep end. I was so excited, decked out in feathers and a beautiful blonde wig. It was similar to my look today, but my makeup skills were a work in progress—black and green eyeshadow! Being with all my Trans Sisters felt like being a celebrity, running up the street with everyone screaming, touching hands, and celebrating our identities."

What is your favourite Mardi Gras memory?

"My favourite memory since then has to be the parade at the SCG. I went minimal—maybe because of COVID—just a simple Trans flag dress and minimal makeup. I wanted to convey a straight forward message about human rights and how Trans people have been left behind."

What does Free to Be mean to you?

"It means no one gets left behind, especially Trans people. I love that our Pride flag now in corporates all colors; it’s vital to shine a spotlight on everyone and ensure everyone gets a turn."

What event are you looking forward to in 2025?

"Definitely Hot Trans Summer! Being on a boat in fun summer clothes with the Sydney Harbour as a back drop is iconic. It’s open to everyone—not just Trans people—inviting allies and anyone who wants to support our community...and get a tan while partying!"
