LGBTQIA+ people with disability, Free To Be Proud
This event will connect LGBTQIA+ people with disability with the broader LGBTQIA+ community, promote intersectionality, and foster greater understanding of the issues they face.
The online event, scheduled for 19 February 2025, will provide a safe, accessible space for LGBTQIA+ people with disability to connect and discuss shared experiences. Developed by and for people with disability, the event will draw on the lived experiences and expertise of LGBTQIA+ people with disability from across Sydney and Australia.
Many LGBTQIA+ events can still be inaccessible for people with disability. This can result in LGBTQIA+ people with disability feeling excluded from their own communities.
By hosting this event online and utilising digital resources, we aim to ensure that as many LGBTQIA+ people with disability as possible can participate, addressing the inaccessibility that often excludes them from community events, including LGBTIQA+ and pride activities.
