In 2025, audiences can look forward to a wealth of Australian and Sydney premieres, showcasing compelling stories from all corners of the world.
In Duino, a gay filmmaker struggling to finish a movie about his unrequited first love is invited to reconstruct his memories, revisit the past, and perhaps find a new ending. ,River Gallo shines alongside Victoria Pedretti and Australia’s own Murray Bartlett in Ponyboi, a Sundance hit about an intersex sex worker on the run from the mob after a drug deal goes wrong. The perils of being a closeted lesbian music diva are explored in the campy, stylistic musical comedy Queens of Drama, which debuted at Cannes. Another Cannes selection, Eat the Night, follows three young French people as they navigate their edgy real lives alongside online gaming fantasy in this ambitious romantic thriller.
What a Feeling is a heartfelt romantic comedy about two middle-aged women who refuse to be sidelined by life, and in the hybrid documentary Desire Lines, an Iranian American trans man travels back in time through an LGBTQIA+ archive, encountering past and present selves in an erotic journey of self-discovery.
